Under the direction of Nadya Potemkina, the Wesleyan University Concert Choir, joined by Brian Fairley on piano, presented a concert featuring both a cappella and accompanied selections from classical and modern choral repertoire on Sunday, December 4, 2016 in Memorial Chapel.

Fall Photos: Music From East Asia

Wesleyan’s three East Asian ensembles–the Taiko Drumming Ensemble directed by Visiting Instructor in Music Barbara Merjan, the Chinese Music Ensemble directed by Ph.D. candidate Huan Li, and the Korean Drumming Ensemble, directed by Visiting Assistant Professor of Music Jin Hi Kim, performed an end of the semester concert on Thursday, December 1, 2016 in the Crowell Concert Hall.

Fall Photos: Why Collaborate?—Why Fukushima? Dance, Photography, History

Visiting Artist in Dance and the College of East Asian Studies Eiko Otake and Professor of History, East Asian Studies, Science in Society, and Environmental Studies William Johnston presented images from their third visit to Fukushima in August 2016, five years after the earthquake, tsunami, and nuclear meltdowns of March 2011 at the Ring Family Performing Arts Hall on Thursday, November 17, 2016.

Fall Photos: Opening Reception of Flying Carpets By David Schorr

An opening reception was held for FLYING CARPETS—new paintings by David Schorr on Tuesday, November 1, 2016 in the Ezra and Cecile Zilkha Gallery. The exhibition explores the conviction of childhood imagination, remembering the pleasure of playing with toys on his grandmother’s oriental carpets.
